The truth is, Angelic Damnation scare me intensely, and that's their intention. To churn up the listener's insides with demented horror lyrics that make Brett Easton Ellis novels seem like Winnie the Pooh, before they assault the ears with relentless battering of lots of Death and lots of metal." - Alan Davidson reviewing Angelic Damnation's Promo CD for 'Live & Direct' magazine.

The unholy terror that is Angelic Damnation first crawled from the grave in mid-1998, the twisted offspring of guitarist Adie and vocalist Ilias, formally of 'JUST ANOTHER VICTIM', a band well known for their outstandingly brutal live shows.   In the summer of 1998, the band (renamed Angelic Damnation) also produced their first, three-track promo CD comprising 'Floges Thanatoy' (Flames of Death), 'Lust of Eosforus' and 'Darkness Will Return', recorded at Darnall Music Factory.  The CD got the band noticed and picked up some good reviews, one of which begins and ends this biography.  In May 1999, and the band encountered a busy month.  It was decided that the time was right to unleash their brand of unholy noise onto an unsuspecting public, making their live debut as Angelic Damnation as part of a package with some of the best local underground bands. The gig was held at Corporation, Sheffield's largest Rock and Metal nightclub, on 15th May 1999. Angelic Damnation took part in a four band showcase, supported by LESS THAN ZERO, HEAD VICE, and SANCTUARY.  Taking to the stage last, Angelic Damnation tore the place up, stirring up demons in the mosh-pit and bringing the show to a crushing end with their own brand of extreme musical terror!!!  This performance highlighted the ideas and the commitment that still remain in the band today.  With the band seeing in its first birthday with a promo CD and a number of solid live performances behind them, Angelic Damnation looked to be going strong.... June 1999, Ilias officially left the band to continue with his academic studies - a Masters Degree - in Edinburgh.  Ilias is still a very good friend to the band.  A new frontman had to be found and in September 1999, Mattias (who previously collaborated with the band on some rough studio tapes) joined as vocalist/bassist.  Mattias introduced more screaming, high pitched vocals as well as gutteral rumblings to bring a new approach to how the band's songs were performed.   The line up change also created a new role for Adie who took on the drumming duties for the band, hammering out a solid backbone to Angelic Damnation's sonic assault!  The final piece of the jigsaw fell into place when guitar players Tom (previously guitarist with SANCTUARY) and Njal joined Angelic Damnation.  Tom comes from a more melodic background, with his influences of bands like IRON MADIEN and JUDAS PRIEST etc... which contrast with Njal's crushing grind attack fed by bands such as DEICIDE and CANNIBAL CORPSE.   However, this has led to a combination of talents and frenzied fret board work which is pushing the band in new directions.   The year 2000 was a very important for Angelic Damnation, writting loads of new matterial, recording a new cd and playing some brutal headline and support shows with bands including ATP, PURPLE STICKY PUNCH, HEATHEN DEITY, BLOOD STREAM and Black Metal dark lords HECATE ENTHRONED, after the very busy year Tom announced his decision to leave the band due to not having time to study and be in a hard working band.  He wouldn't be able to commit to rehearsing and playing live 100%, This meant that Njal had taken a larger role in the writing of new material, producing more old school death metal and giving praise to the almighty blast beats!!  The Band took a large break in 2001 after recording 'Into The Depths You've Fallen' A CD that had it's fair share of problems during the recording process which took a lot out of the band.  Njal moved to Canada for his work, Mattias started his hard rock side project POSITIVE ID and Adie took a break from music completly to spend all his spare time doing up his Custom VW attending shows and car meets around the UK.  Njal has now returned to the UK and a reform of the band has taken place!! Watch this space...

This has only been the start for Angelic Damnation. While the band has seen changes, the vision remains the same - to produce uncompromising "Dark Melodic Death Metal" - take it or leave it!!! "The Angelic Damnation debut is a rollercoaster of nastiness!!! Lock up your daughters and make sure all your pets are neutered and spayed. This band will inevitably inherit the Earth." - Alan Davidson reviewing Angelic Damnation's Promo CD for 'Live & Direct' magazine. KEEP MUSIC EVIL!!!
